I have never seen so many casinos as I did in my drive along the back roads of Louisiana. Virtually every small burg has at least one and some two or three.
These are not casinos that are built to bring in tourists. They must be marketed to residents in the immediate area. I’m guessing that most bring 90%+ of their customers from within 10 to 20 miles of their operation.
As I drove along contemplating these casinos' impact upon the state’s economy, I reflected that every site selection project that we have completed excludes LA at the first cut. I wondered if there was some correlation.
I hope to do more research on these casinos for future blogs.
