College Tour—MS Agurbs®---One of my Favorites

The last stop on our college tour this past week was Oxford, MS. It is one of my favorite small towns with a marvelous downtown area. In fact if you are looking at what you might do with your downtown area, be sure to go visit Oxford. They have a downtown that combines all of the key ingredients for vibrancy—strong retailing, restaurants, entertainment and most importantly downtown housing.

Richard Howorth, now mayor of the town, helped get the downtown revitalization started when he moved back home to start Square Books located right on the square. He has expanded his bookstore business there with Square Books Jr, aimed at the children’s market, and Off Square Books, selling overstocks and remainders. Square Books has teamed with Old Miss to promote the literary and artistic assets of the community. It hosts numerous book readings, signings and even a weekly live radio show.

We had our choice of over a dozen restaurants, delis, coffee houses and sports bars for dinner in the downtown area. James and I choose Ajax; a down home moderately priced restaurant where we both experimented fried pickles for the first time. Two thumbs up from each of us.

We didn’t see a vacancy in the downtown area and admired the new construction that is taking place adjacent to it. I hope that you enjoy the pictures of the new condos and especially the series of pictures of the new (made to look old) retailing, office, condo complex. I took several pictures of.

Much to my disappointment, Old Miss didn’t make James top three list. I was hoping to get back more often than I will now.

Agurbs as you appear to use them does not seem to be covered by a registered USPTO trademark. If that is the case, you are in violation of federal law, and may be engaged in a deceptive practice.

Thank you,
